Pierre Vital

Pierre Vital is an intellectual property leader, attorney, and former U.S. Army Captain with more than two decades of public service at the intersection of technology, law, and leadership. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and earned his Juris Doctor from The Catholic University of America, Columbus School of Law. During his military service, he led communications platoons, managed vital tactical infrastructure, and directed division-level operational readiness before receiving an Honorable Discharge.

Since joining the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) in 1999, Pierre has built a distinguished federal career. He advanced from examining complex computer memory and data processing architectures to earning full signatory authority as a Primary Examiner, and in 2006, he became a Supervisory Patent Examiner (SPE). In this role, he leads examiner teams, trains staff on patent statutes and examination procedures, and serves on the SPE Management Training Team. His public service has earned him multiple honors, including the U.S. Department of Commerce Bronze Medal Award and consecutive Outstanding Performance Ratings.

Beyond his supervisory responsibilities, Pierre is a dedicated contributor to the intellectual property community. He served 12 years on the Board of Directors of the Patent and Trademark Office Society (PTOS) and co-chairs the Education Committee for the Caribbean Intellectual Property Association (CIPA). Fluent in English, French, and Haitian Creole, he brings a multilingual, global perspective to patent administration and IP law.

Pierre is currently President of the Association of Haitian Professionals (AHP).
