Melissa Heurtelou

A member since late 2016, Melissa has been assuming Communications and Social Media responsibilities since January 2017. A Montreal native, she moved to the DC-Metro area in November 2011 to pursue an opportunity which would allow her to further her career. A business professional with over 12 years of experience in the information technology and consulting industry, Melissa has lead multiple projects and initiatives primarily focused on process re-engineering, organizational change management, business transformation and Shared Services implementations. Since moving to the area, she has been serving the U.S. Government as a Federal Contractor. The U.S Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), The International Monetary Fund (IMF), The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), and The U.S. Treasury Department, are among her recent clients. Melissa now works for Deloitte Consulting, in Virginia.

A graduate from Concordia University, Melissa obtained her bachelor’s degree with a Major in Mathematics and Statistics, and a minor in Business Administration in 2006. As an ambitious entry-level clerk, Melissa quickly learned the ways of the “corporate world” and climbed the success ladder rather quickly. After completing many successful projects, she obtained her Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification as well as a SCRUM certification.

With a successful career underway, Melissa also made sure to make time for her hobbies and interests. With a passion for baking and talent for cake decorating, she opened Melissa’s Sweet Cakes LLC, in February 2018. Building on the skills she learned from baking with her mother as a child, Melissa now spends her free time perfecting her craft by creating sweet delights for her customers. Her specialty: custom Haitian cakes, cupcakes and other sweet treats. More information: www.msweetcakes.com.
